ABOUT LASUMSA
Lagos State University Medical Students’ Association (LASUMSA) is a representative body for over 500 medical students in Lagos State University College Of Medicine (LASUCOM), Ikeja Lagos State, Nigeria.
As part of our core values, we cater to the academic, social, sporting, and entire well-being of our esteemed members while ensuring their interest is protected within and outside the college.
LASUMSA, a non-governmental, non-profitable organization founded in the year 2000 comprises two arms-
The Executive and The Senate. The executive arm, a 10-man council headed by the president is responsible for the effective running of the association.
The senate arm comprises four representatives from each level and it is headed by the speaker. They monitor and checkmate the dealings of the executive council in accordance with the provision of the LASUMSA constitution.
While inspiring and motivating the learning and practice of medicine, LASUMSA has over the years continued to invest in its members by organizing value-driven and capacity-building programs via seminars, conferences, and workshops that focus on leadership, entrepreneurship, and research. One of which is our annual entrepreneurship summit which witnesses the presence of some renowned and reputable businessmen and women who share their experiences, ideas, and secret of a successful entrepreneur.
We take pride in our robust impact and positive contributions toward improving the health and well-being of Lagosians through our health campaigns, advocacy, and walks. Furthermore, as part of our activities, we organize free medical outreach to rural communities in Lagos State. We give free drugs to rural communities that have limited access to drugs and carry out tests such as blood sugar, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), eye test, and dental screening.
As an association that has been in existence for over a decade now, we have enjoyed privileges through a partnership with the Lagos State Government and many private organizations like EKO Hospital directed by our grand patron- Dr. Sonny Kuku. We welcome many more collaborations from governmental and non-governmental organizations as we continue our quest #ForAGreaterLASUMSA.
